Why Do You Need More Than One Adjustment?
"Okay, I'll see you next week for your adjustment!" This is what is said to most of our patients as they walk out the door. The reason is, your body needs consistency to create long lasting improvement. Health depends on consistency or else it can succumb to the challenges life presents to it day after day.
For instance, we brush our hair more than once in our life. That is because our hair becomes messy and tangled after 1 day. Same thing for why we brush our teeth. We need to consistently brush our teeth or else your mouth gets stinky and your teeth become yellow. This phenomena is known as the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
There are 3 laws of thermodynamics which govern our world, and they all have to do with energy. Despite these laws being incredibly comprehensive and complicated, there is a simple way to apply the 2nd law, which we will discuss further.
The 2nd law of thermodynamics states: everything that's in order will always work itself towards disorder. As humans, we counteract this in many ways: education, physical training, and spirituality, for example. The hair brushing is a great analogy. No matter how well you brushed your hair, you will need to brush it again. Your hair is going from a state of order, to a state of disorder.
How does chiropractic care fit into this? Well just as we regularly exercise, take continuing education, and attend spiritual practices to keep ourselves healthy in body, mind, and soul, so we also seek chiropractic care to keep our bodies functional. As we age, we tend to hunch over or develop a limp - sometimes without even noticing! Regular chiropractic care can keep our bodies from developing the disorder that comes with age, so we can function at our highest level for years to come!
When you get an adjustment, your entire body is in a state of equilibrium/harmony/ease/order. However, as you go about your life, your spine will gradually work itself towards disorder. Come see us at Thrive Family Chiropractic to keep your health and life in order!
